I deserve this today

Caveman Batman had an enjoyable time relaxing out in front of his ancient red rock batcave.  Today the hills were finally dried out enough to go on a hike.  My now three hiking buddies (my two oldest boys and one daughter) came along. Before dinner we decided to go get some energy out up the canyon near our home.

We avoided a few mud puddles on the way to our spot.  Of course I brought a nice selection of Lego and my camera pack.  We hiked to the top of a ravine where it opened up into red sandstone cliffs carved by water into Swiss cheese like structures dotted with holes, nooks, and crevices.  So many excellent spots in minifigure scale!

The scenery is spectacular! Everywhere we hike and look, it’s like a giant never ending playground full of climbing equipment.  I deserve this today, today I deserve it.

It has been a rather difficult winter financially because I decided to work for myself and start a mining company.  There has been a large learning curve with prospecting, acquiring a mining claim, and developing that claim with a reclamation bond.  We finally have beautiful stone that has been masterfully sculpted into brilliant finished work.  It is nice to see the fruit of my labors.

It is nice to finally see our hard work paying off with beautiful art.  Now our stone is out of the ground, it is time to get it into artists hands nation wide.

I am sure Lego Batman feels the same way when he saves the city.  He deserves his lobster thermidor.  Hard work deserves a change in pace and direction.  He spends a nice afternoon resting on the sandstone without a care in the world.  Just sitting there and enjoying the view as the scattered clouds edge by.  Taking a break helps to refocus effort and recharge the battery!

We took lots of pictures, enjoyed the beautiful scenery, and got to get some energy out all before returning home for dinner.  The grilled cheese sandwiches and left over spaghetti wasn’t lobster thermidor, but my kiddos didn’t seem to notice.
